Gladys,
Very nice personal blog!!!
Your leadership online is more than obvious. I think that age turns people wiser. With your present experience I'm msure you could be successful leading face to face teams.

you said:
"do you believe online facilitation is quite different from f2f?"
YYYes I do believe it's VERY different:
a). Communication is not only words in the real world.
b). No one actually speaks in whole, grammatically correct sentences in the real world. (I tried writing down the transcript of a series of presentations and found myself automatically - unconsciously - finishing off sentences which the NSs had left hanging).
c). How many times in the real world has one said to oneself "goodness, I shouldn't have said that" .... as soon as you have time to think.
d). f2f you negotiate meaning "on line" ...er... you see what I mean? (that metaphore's eating it's tail now)... and the idea doesn't have to be all-your-own - so the other party is instantaneously co-producer and thus Druker's "we" is NOT theoretical.
QED - This kind of fuzzy thinking goes down well in the flesh and blood classroom !!!
GREAT blog Gladys - It's SO helpful with all the links and explanations.
merci beaucoup

Gladys, Congratulations on your first podcast! It was a pleasure to hear your voice. In my opinion, facilitators who are successful in f2f situations should be able to convey their leadership and enthusiasm in an online setting as well. Maybe this is because good leaders are flexible and willing to adapt themselves to new situations. That being said, I'm sure you're as dynamic in the classroom as you have been at Learning with Computers!

Shucks. I could not get the audio recording to work - Maybe if you posted a url where the voice could be directly reached?

More shucks...I have been looking for your (Gladys) email and more on your profile.

I love the look and feel of this blog. I have a strong feeling you are "something else". :)

Thanks Doug and Elizabeth for your supportive comments! It's great to feel "listened to", you know... :)
...As regards the content of my message, do you believe online facilitation is quite different from f2f? Or do facilitators from one environment tend to do well in the other?
:?Gladys
