This means when the killer robots come, you'll have me to thank. At least they'll have a fine knowledge of Elizabethan poetry." I take that as a reminder that artificial intelligence is NOT intelligence at all, though it IS artificial. Interestingly, his response to the video has to do with the potential of AI and how futuristic movies such as "I, Robot" and "The Matrix" might indeed turn into reality one day, whereas to me the video talked of human beings and freedom, using "The Machine" as a tool... I guess my focus was on "The Machine is <strong>Us</strong>", whereas to Steve the main focus was on "The Machine is Us<strong><em>ing</em></strong> Us".... How many people has this professor Wesch taught with this video??? :-?! Guess he'll never really know... I truly believe in the potential we, as educators, have to guide our students into this lifelong learning process. The Web 2.0 has made our lives much easier in this sense. However, it's not an easy task due to institutional constraints, tight schedules for a syllabus that we are to cover, etc...Even so, with all the structures hindering this mind openness,I am still a romantic, a dreamer who truly believe in the power of education and the future of our students.
